Kappa Delta Pi
Hey there! I have some exciting news to share with you! Today I was officially initiated into Kappa Delta Pi! Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) is an international honors society in Education. Temple University’s College of Education is proud to have a chapter of this prestigious society. In order to become a member of Temple University’s KDP you must meet certain GPA requirements and have a certain amount of credits. If you meet the requirements you are notified by our Assistant Dean (also a KDP member) that you are invited to join.
Kappa Delta Pi is made up of a community of passionate future educators and established educators. The mission of KDP ” is to sustain an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership, and service.” As a member of Kappa Delta Pi I will be involved within the society at Temple University. Our president, Carolyn, brought up a great idea for our first project – donating to schools and families that have experienced devastation by Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York. Kappa Delta Pi members are also apart of a network of educators, with over 600 chapters and 40,000 members, many educators across America are also proud Kappa Delta Pi members. As members we also have access to “webinars”, publications, scholarships, etc., through the KDP website. These are only a few of the benefits of being a member of Kappa Delta Pi. I’m very excited for this new and exciting aspect of my college and future career, and I’m looking forward to all the ways it will help me become the teacher I aspire to be.
